Ubisoft, the historic video game publisher behind the Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance franchises, is rolling out a free app NFT hits this week with its first original blockchain-based game, Champion Tactics: Chronicles of Grimoria.
Scheduled to take place on OasisA gaming-centric network, the Currency will allow players to collect a total of 75,000 in-game champion figurines. It will be a completely free Currency with no gas fees for users, although holders of existing Warlords NFTs will be given priority and be able to claim more champions.
The first phase of creation will begin on Monday, when owners of the game’s Warlords profile picture (PFP) NFTs, which were minted on Ethereum And offered for free at the end of last year—will be able to create up to five champion NFTs.

Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles is an original blockchain-based strategy game that Ubisoft first announced last summer. Ubisoft launched the first closed beta for the game last week ahead of this NFT’s creation, as the publisher ramps up the rollout ahead of a full launch later this year.
Ubisoft has announced that it is working with decentralized cloud computing startup Aleph.im, a long-standing partner going back to its Ubisoft Quartz NFTs on Tezos, to power the creation of Champions NFTs, using the company’s “verifiable randomness” feature to ensure fair distribution to users who claim the assets.
