Trump promises greater support for cryptocurrencies, putting distance between himself and Biden
Donald Trump is doubling the cryptocurrency’s supportsaying that he wants all Bitcoin to be mined in the United States in the future.
In an all-caps rant posted on Trump’s Truth social platformthe Republican presidential candidate said that mining cryptocurrencies at home “will help us become dominant in the energy sector.”
It’s a questionable statement considering how much a crypto-mining farm requires from a local power grid, but clearly it is trying to draw a bright line between your candidacy and The administration of President Joseph R. Bidenwhich it was more skeptical of cryptocurrency.
On Tuesday, Trump met with Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc., based in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson, Nevada, and Riot Platforms of Castle Rock, Colorado, south of Denver. Officials from both companies joined Trump at an event at his estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
The main mining countries currently are, together with the United States, China AND El Salvador along with some locations in Europe.
Bitcoin supply is limited to 21 million units. It is estimated that Bitcoin will be a mineable resource until 2140. Coingecko claims that 90% of that resource has been discovered so far.
