Trump NFT Trading Cards Soar as Price Floor Hits New High
The floor price of original Trump digital trading cards has hit a new record high following a failed assassination attempt on the former US president.
Non-Fungible Token Collectibles on Ethereum Sidechain Scaling Solution Polygon reached an all-time high of 933 MATIC ($502), according to data collected from several NFT markets.
That has since cooled, with its floor price hovering around 762 MATIC ($410), according to NFT Marketplace data. Magical Eden watch.
A few days earlier, those same NFTs were trading at about half that price, at $228 each. The second round of Trump digital trading cards also rose 20% to 163 MATIC ($233).
This comes a day after Donald Trump was shot in the right ear by a 20-year-old gunman who was later killed on the scene at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The cryptocurrency market came to life over the weekend, after dramatic scenes from the rally unfolded and were subsequently shared online.
As Trump-inspired meme coins have seen a surge, the trading fervor has also spread to other industry verticals, including blockchain betting platforms Polymarketwhere the odds have risen to 70% that Trump will take the White House in November.
The NFTs officially launched by the former president in December 2022 and April 2023 have seen mixed results since their release.
Each card typically depicts Trump in various heroic, patriotic, or fantastical scenarios. At the time of its release, the first edition promised a number of perks, including a meeting with Trump.
The Series 2 set, whose NFT artwork features Trump wearing a professional wrestling championship belt, attempted to build on the success of the first series’ launch.
In April last year, the first edition Trump NFTs quickly fell After a second edition, the collection’s offering has more than doubled.
