Donald Trump is planning to launch another NFT, his fourth, just after he escaped an assassination attempt.

In a recent interview With Bloomberg, Trump shared his views on cryptocurrencies, highlighting the potential for the United States to become a leader in this booming industry. Trump, who once called cryptocurrencies a “fraud” and “a disaster waiting to happen,” has changed his tune.

The shift is due to a pragmatic approach to global competition and his recognition of the potential of cryptocurrencies. “If we don’t embrace them, other countries will, including China,” he warned. “China is very committed to it. And it’s not going away. It’s incredible. I went to San Francisco, I met a lot of people – people for whom this is really becoming an industry.”

He stressed that abandoning cryptocurrency would allow other nations, including China, to gain a significant advantage in this area.

Reflecting on his own projects, Trump cited his experience with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as a pivotal moment in recognizing the potential of digital currencies. “I noticed that 80% of the money was paid in crypto. It was unbelievable,” he shared. Trump’s NFT sales have been remarkably successful, with 45,000 cards sold in a single day. “It was an eye-opener,” he admitted, acknowledging the growing importance of cryptocurrencies in the modern economy.

“We had a year to sell it and it sold out in one day. It sold out: 45,000 cards. And I did it three times. [and] I’m going to do another one, because people want me to do another one.” – Donald Trump

In a bold move just over two months ago, Trump promised Ross Ulbricht, founder of Silk Road, a darknet marketplace that facilitated illegal transactions primarily through Bitcoin, has had his sentence commuted. Ulbricht, who has already served 11 years in prison, could be released if Trump wins the upcoming election.

Trump also promised to protect and promote the cryptocurrency industry in the United States. “We’re going to put a stop to it. I’m going to make sure that the future of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin is created in the United States, not transferred overseas,” he said.

He stressed the right of cryptocurrency holders to self-protection and assured his supporters that he would prevent adversaries like Sen. Elizabeth Warren from undermining their investments. “I will never authorize the creation of a central bank digital currency,” he added.

The former president’s campaign has increasingly focused on cryptocurrency. On TruthSocial, he reiterated his commitment to making the United States a leader in the field. “There is no second place,” he said, criticizing President Joe Biden’s approach. Trump has promised to prioritize Bitcoin mining, urging Americans to support his vision of Bitcoin production “MADE IN THE USA!!!”

Trump has been a vocal critic of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), touting Bitcoin mining as a key defense against such initiatives. He has accused Biden’s policies of benefiting adversarial nations like China and Russia, as well as domestic political opponents. “Biden’s hatred of Bitcoin only helps China, Russia, and the radical communist left,” Trump said.

Three days ago, Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Despite being injured, he announced shortly after that he had chosen Senator JD Vance of Ohio as his running mate. The cryptocurrency community is now watching closely to see if Trump will follow through on his ambitious promises if he returns to the White House.

Trump’s growing stance on cryptocurrency represents a major shift in his political discourse, one that could have profound implications for the future of digital currencies in the United States and beyond.
