The new collection follows the “MugShot” series and highlights Trump’s growing adoption of cryptocurrency.

Former President Donald Trump announced plans to launch a fourth NFT collection during a recent interview with Bloomberg Businessweek. This announcement follows the successful launch of three previous NFT collections, each consisting of 45,000 digital cards that sold out within a day.

Trump’s decision to release another series is reportedly driven by public demand and growing enthusiasm within the cryptocurrency community.

“I’m going to do another one because people want me to do another one,” Trump said in the July 16 interview. “We had a year to sell everything and it sold out in one day.”

A change of perspective

Trump’s Latest NFT Collectiontitled “MugShot,” focused on his ongoing legal battles. The former president noted that a significant portion of the payments for these NFTs were made in cryptocurrency.

“I would say almost everything was paid for in cryptocurrency, in this new currency. And that was an eye-opener for me,” Trump revealed.

This experience is said to have reinforced his belief in the importance of the United States becoming the world leader in the cryptocurrency industry.

“He’s a baby. He’s an infant right now. But I don’t want to be held responsible for allowing another country to take over that sphere,” Trump said.

He expressed concern that if the United States ignores the potential of cryptocurrency, other nations, particularly China, could dominate the sector.

Trump acknowledged the changing outlook of traditional banking executives toward cryptocurrencies. He noted that figures like the CEO of JP Morgan have become more receptive to digital currencies over the years. “Cryptocurrencies are not going away,” Trump said.

Crypto and the Trump campaign

The former US president has also adopted cryptocurrency for his political campaign. In May, Trump’s campaign began accepting cryptocurrency donations.

A recent report The Wall Street Journal, citing data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), revealed that about $3 million of the $331 million raised by the Trump campaign in the last quarter was in cryptocurrency.

The announcement of the fourth NFT collection comes on the heels of a heartbreaking event in Trump’s life. On July 13, 2024, at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump Survived an assassination attempt. A 20-year-old gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire, wounding Trump in the right ear and killing a bystander.
