What is MagicBlock?
Onchain game engines make it easier to create games without external dependencies beyond their underlying blockchain.
For me, this is one of the most exciting areas of development in cryptography today, which is why my curiosity was piqued when I recently came across MagicBlock Engine.
MagicBlock is a game engine that innovated with an Ephemeral Rollups architecture, designed to power flexible and performant on-chain games on Solana.
I think MagicBlock is an interesting taste of what’s to come in the Solana gaming scene, so let’s catch up on all the basics here! 👇

ERC-6551 paved the way for token-linked accounts, i.e. NFTs as smart wallets that can hold other NFTs.
A project that puts this feature to interesting musical use is Sound capsulesa simple audio player platform to create token-related playlists on Base.
In other words, each of the 10,000 Sound Capsule NFTs that can be minted is designed to hold music NFTs selected by their owners. To add music, you transfer Zora music NFTs to your Sound Capsule’s smart wallet via the “Manage” page.
Additionally, each sound capsule can be sold as a full playlist. All content of the sound capsule will be sold with the NFT if transferred to another wallet!
To me, it’s experiences like this that hint at a future renaissance around music NFTs, so it’s worth exploring if you want a glimpse into where things seem to be heading here.
