Square Enix adopts Arbitrum for Symbiogenesis Chapter 2

Square Enix recently announced the adoption of the Ethereum Layer-2 Arbitrum network for its Symbiogenesis NFT character mint due this morning.

The decision comes after the initial phase of minting on the Ethereum mainnet. According to a Message Using Symbiogenesis, Arbitrum will significantly reduce transaction costs compared to Ethereum mainnet, at approximately 1/1000 of the previous cost.

The game Previously used polygonan Ethereum sidechain, for other in-game NFT assets and it is unclear whether Polygon will continue to be used alongside Arbitrum for future assets.

Symbiogenesis Day One Sales Blitz

Symbiogenesis, a narrative game mixing NFTs for in-game characters and items, offers an exclusive narrative experience accessible only to owners of specific character NFTs. The game aims to release a total of 10,000 characters.

In December, the game minted its first 500 characters on Ethereum and is currently trading for less than $0.12 ETH (or around $452) on secondary markets.

Today marks the launch of an additional 1,500 new NFT characters on Arbitrum, starting with a public auction that is expected to last three days until Sunday. At the time of writing, Symbiogenesis confirmed that NFT character sales for the first day of the auction were completely sold out.
