Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announces he will launch a new NFT collection
Former US President Donald Trump has announced plans to launch a new series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) following the success of his previous collections.
In a interview With Bloomberg Businessweek, the Republican presidential candidate says he will launch a fourth NFT collection as he sees demand for a new one.
“I did things like NFTs and, you know, stuff like that. And I noticed that 80% of the money was paid in crypto. It was amazing. So, NFTs are, you know, I did the… very successful. We had a year to sell them and they sold out in one day. The whole thing sold out: 45,000 cards. And I did it three times. [and] I’m going to do another one, because people want me to do another one. It’s an incredible spirit. Beautiful.”
Trump launched his first NFT collection in December 2022, a few weeks after officially announcing his intention to run in the 2024 presidential election.
He previously said that cryptocurrencies were “a disaster waiting to happen,” but his stance on digital assets has since changed. In his new interview, he explains why he has now turned to cryptocurrencies.
“If we don’t do it, China will take it and they’ll have it, or somebody else, but most likely China. China is very attached to it. And it’s not going to go away.
Now, if I put it aside, it will be taken up in another country, most likely China, which is quite advanced in this area. So we have to think about it and what I want, again, is what is good for the country.
