Like that of Coinbase Ethereum layer 2 scaling network Base continues to gain momentum, NFT walk Open Sea is gearing up to spotlight the network and its artists with the launch of “Get Based,” a series of free or low-cost digital artwork.
Kicking off Thursday with a stunning reimagining of the cover art for the classic film “Endless Summer” (seen in full below) by Carty Sewell– an artist and also an employee of OpenSea – the “Get Based” series is expected to encompass the works of 15 artists over the summer.
Weekly deliveries will take place via the OpenSea website and via frames on social media protocol. Farcasterwith each open edition costing $5 or less, and some will be free.
Other artists/projects confirmed for “Get Based” include RGB creator Punks Jhekubcreator of “Primitives” Hunmeme artist Enigmatic poetcreator of Twitter “Fail Whale” Yiying Luillustrator MetroAnd Thank God Basic– who recently completed a free Base NFT creation on OpenSea which resulted in over 181,000 creations in total.

Base has become a significant part of OpenSea’s focus in recent months, as the market embraces the nascent NFT scene on a chain that does not yet have entrenched, high-value collections unlike tier 1 chains like the Ethereum mainnet or Solana.
“Get Based” is intended as an introduction to Base’s emerging artists, while also helping to introduce the channel to collectors. OpenSea offers native bridging of assets to Base, as well as the ability to purchase with fiat currency and credit cards via a MoonPay integration.
“The Base ecosystem has proven to be a catalyst for new utility and creativity using NFTs,” said Devin Finzer, co-founder and CEO of OpenSea. The “Get Based” series will run alongside Base’s next promotion “On-Chain Summer II”, which will begin on June 3 and will offer over 600 ETH (nearly $2.3 million) in prizes, incentives, and gas credits in various projects and protocols. OpenSea participated in last year’s promotion and was also a launch partner of the Base.
