Bitcoin Surges Above $67K as Altcoins Post Significant Gains (Weekend Watch)
The cryptocurrency market staged a massive rally yesterday after starting the day very slowly and even significantly down. However, buyers stepped in and pushed Bitcoin above $67,000, while many altcoins are posting impressive returns.
Bitcoin surpasses $67,000
Bitcoin price rose by around 5% on the day, posting an impressive recovery after falling to $63,000 in yesterday morning’s trading session.
It managed to trace a local daily high at $67,400 on Bitstamp but has since fallen to where it is currently trading at $66,600. This is still an impressive performance and the bulls may consolidate now in preparation for a fresh rally towards the $70,000 level.
Looking at the situation on an hourly basis, the price seems to have resumed an uptrend and it is interesting to see if it will take Bitcoin to $70,000, which seems to be the next major level.
Altcoins in a sea of green
It’s not just Bitcoin that’s making impressive gains, it’s the entire market. As you can see in the heat map below, all the large-cap altcoins are up significantly.
Among the most notable performing stocks are DOGE, which managed to record an increase of around 7.3%, SOL, up almost 6%, AVAX, up 5.4%, NEAR, up more than 6%, and so on.
SEI and ORDI are the top performers today, up 18.5% and 16.4%, respectively. POPCAT and BONK are the top performing memecoins, up 16% and 13.2%.
Interestingly, all of the top 100 cryptocurrencies by total market cap are in the black, demonstrating the strength of the market over the past 24 hours.
