Avión unveils its first NFT tequila

Pernod Ricard-owned Avión has partnered with NFT platform BlockBar to release 100 bottles of an additional añejo tequila aged in a single Mexican Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrel.

There are only 100 bottles of Avión Lucky Liquid available

The new expression, called Avión Lucky Liquid, was aged for nine years in an oak barrel previously used to mature Cabernet Sauvignon. It was forgotten for years and rediscovered in a cellar, according to the brand.

The brand said the tequila was named Lucky Liquid after defying all odds to result in an “exquisite 100% agave tequila despite the nature of its production.”

“Successfully created against all odds, Avión Lucky Liquid was born from an intuition nine years ago and is proof that fortune favors the bold,” said Juan Namur, Digital Director at House of Tequila – Pernod Ricard.

“This very notion is something that crypto enthusiasts and spirit collectors live and breathe, as they are always looking for the next extraordinary token or expression, which could appreciate significantly. It’s high risk, high reward.

“By combining blockchain technology with prestige tequila in a limited series of just 100 bottles, we are capturing the attention of two highly engaged pioneering communities.”

The 40% ABV expression is unfiltered and has a reddish tint. The nose offers cocoa and candied red fruits, while the palate brings lots of tannins, alongside peach, cranberry and pecans.

Drinkers can now join the waiting room on BlockBar for the chance to purchase the liquid when the bottles go on sale at 10 a.m. EST on June 3, priced at $495 USD each.

Each bottle of Avión Lucky Liquid will be stored in BlockBar’s storage facility in Singapore, and owners will have the option to resell via BlockBar’s secondary market or exchange their NFT for the physical bottle starting in July 2025.

Avión is not the only Tequila brand to launch an NFT via BlockBar. Patron launched 150 bottles of its President’s Reserve in 2022, while in 1800 auctioned off a rare vintage from its 1800 Colección bottling.

Meanwhile, mezcal brand Ojo de Dios launched an NFT programThe Odd Squad, to offer 360° experiences to fans of the spirit.
